Laureato in Medicina e Chirurgia nel 1986 presso l’Ateneo di Bologna, dove nel 1989 ha conseguito la specialità di Odontostomatologia.
Socio Attivo della Società Italiana di Parodontologia, dell’Accademia ltaliana di Odontoiatria Protesica e della European Association for Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery, ha svolto l’incarico di Segretario Nazionale, di Tesoriere, di Vicepresidente e di Presidente della SIdP.
Autore dei testi multimediali Quintessenza Vol. I Terapia Implantare: il Piano di Trattamento Integrato e Vol. II Terapia Protesica in Implantologia: Il Piano di Trattamento Integrato, oltre che di numerosi articoli di carattere scientifico, ha tenuto conferenze nell’ambito di Congressi nazionali e internazionali.
Ricopre l’incarico come membro dell’ Editorial Board of the European Journal of Oral Implantology e Editorial Consultant per The International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry.
Professore di Parodontologia (Università Politecnica delle Marche), Presidente della Clinica Merli e Direttore Scientifico dell’Accademia Dento-Facciale, svolge l’attività libero professionale nello studio associato fondato dal padre Mario assieme ai fratelli Monica ed Aldo.
